This is our second Minka-Aire fan with the remote. Love those remotes! We put this one in our new kitchen and it's perfect. Very streamlined with nice lighting and very quiet. Our kitchen has a very high ceiling and the dining area is at the more closed in end so there was little to no air flow. I put this fan on the lowest speed and it makes a 10-15 degree difference. As I said before we have two of the remote control fans so be aware that unless you reprogram one of the controls they will both run on a single remote. For us this is just great because our other fan is outside so we can carry the remote outside and change the fan and light out there as needed. I definitely will buy a Minka-Aire fan when we need another. My husband did most of the work putting this up and said it was no more difficult or time consuming then any other fan.

I did ALOT of research on fans before buying this one. We live in a very damp, salty location, so bought an indoor/outdoor fan for our indoor great room. Hopefully it will hold up to the rust. But it looks great, was relatively easy to install, and has awesome airflow. Only negatives would be that the blades are a bit more gray than pictured, more like taupe than brown/bronze. Also, the light isn't super bright, but not bad compared to most indoor/outdoor fans. Overall we're very happy with the purchase, and got a way better deal on Amazon than all the fan stores we went to.

This fan lives under my patio, and while I liked the picture when I saw it online, I like it more in person. The color is a little more subtle, in a good way. It circulates a lot of air with no rocking, very minimal noise, and that's asking a lot for a Deep South summer. My concern when ordering it was that the lights might be too dim, but I realize that if I were using it outside at night, I wouldn't want terribly bright lights anyway, which has proven true. It's just right, and it fits my design aesthetic. Happiness.

In addition to being used to protect electronics (which it does very well, as many other reviewers note), I wanted to mention this also makes an ideal case for a survival kit that can be stored in a car, or put into checked luggage when traveling on extended trips. It can house a multi-tool, small flashlight, emergency whistle, matches, string saw, and other assorted items that would be invaluable in an emergency situation. It is sturdy, waterproof, and attaches easily to a daypack for use out and about. Highly recommended.

We have one camera in our 2-year old's room and one in our infant's crib. Good color picture when there is enough light. Nice to see if either kid has his eyes open or closed from outside of the room. Good sound transmission. Poor night vision picture - in low light you can't see much even if the camera is very close to your subject - it is essentially a glorified audio baby monitor. As such, we don't use the night vision option.

Nice to be able to switch from room to room on the receiver. We usually use it on manual and keep it on the room of interest at the time.

No interference with our wireless internet set-up. Receiver buzzes when our microwave is on. Had rather loud feedback when our 5.8 GHz phone system was on, but I changed to a DECT 6.0 system and all is well.

I'd suggest purchasing the system from somewhere that allows for a return if it doesn't satisfy you. I'm happy with ours and I even purchased a second camera once I tried out the first one. But I did have to change a few things to make it work for us.

Works great so far. It syncs perfectly with the shutter. I have tested it several different triggers including the built in flash on my camera and it works with them all. For what it's worth I keep my camera set on manual all the time.

I read negative reviews here I could not believe; viz., that a sync eye should somehow be able to distinguish between preflash and the actual flash, AND that the supplier was responsible for not informing the consumer that their unit would not be capable discriminating that difference.

In a studio environment, manual mode is used with a constant shutter speed, typically something slower than 1/200th, and aperture is adjusted for incident flash light. For portraiture, key and fill lights are typically at something like 45� off the shooting angle so red-eye isn't an issue and there is no need for the preflash intended to constrict the subject's pupils to reduce the red light reflected back through it before the main flash fires and the shutter opens. If the on-camera flash is being used to trigger an off camera flash, a piece of white paper over it will diffuse the light or a piece of cardboard will direct it upward, avoiding the need for red-eye reduction preflash.

Personally I don't see these complaints as legitimate criticisms of this device. At the price it is quite useful especially in cases where the built-in flash eye on a strobe or speed flash is shielded from seeing the trigger flash.

The build quality is superb; it'll last a lifetime. The only complaint (the same one that others seem to have) is that it won't do a coarse grind: only a VERY fine grind. Too fine, almost. If you're hoping to do a coarse grind, look elsewhere.

I bought this grinder as a 7th wedding anniversary gift for my wife. We love to cook. It's well made, heavy, and will probably last a lifetime. It is easy enough to load, but I would suggest using a wrench to actually tighten the top nut securely. I have to echo what others have said; it grinds pepper very fine. If you're looking for something more like cracked pepper, this grinder will not make it. The grind, at its finest, is like a powder. The coarsest grind is still very fine. I knew it would be fine when I bought it, so if that's what you're looking for, this is a good grinder. At a very fine grind, the pepper releases substantially more aroma and flavor.

Beautiful little pepper grinder. Never going to break an expensive plastic one again. Metal - the material of your grandparents! Great as is, but for a courser grind it's pretty easy to modify to your liking.

"Modify a $50 pepper mill" you say? Sure, why not, it's metal. Here's how:

Get a punch (like a screwdriver or nail set) hammer, pliers, vice grips or best of all a bench vise, and a file.
Unscrew the two philips screws on the side of the mill's body. Drop out the grinding mechanism and the shaft (undo the bolt and remove the handle first).
Undo the adjusting screw at the bottom (don't lsoe the spring!) and use the screwdriver/punch and hammer to knock free the adjusting screw's cross bar. I did this on a work glove so as not to mar the grinder or my work bench and so it wouldn't slip away so easily.
Once this is knocked free clamp that cross bar in a vise or pliers or whatever and file a section of that cross bar down a millimeter or two. You want to file the wider part of the bar, the side that faces up to the sky when you put it back together. Make sure you don't file the ends that seat the bar in the mechanism, you only want to file an area slightly larger than the diameter of the grinding burr (about 20 or 21 milimeters, or ~10mm from the center of the adjusting screw's hole).
Once this is done, but it back together! The cross bar may fit loose when you tap it back in, but it's got nowhere to go once you put the mechanism back in the grinder body. If the very minor rattling bothers you, just put a dab of glue on it to keep it in place. The top cap rattle more anyway

Now that adjusting screw will actually have a purpose!

This process gives a coarser grind, and also lowers the handle towards the top cap so the top cap won't bounce around quite so much as another reviewer mentioned.

If you're a really ballsy pepper grinder modifying gal/guy you can even eliminate the gap between the handle and the top cap by unscrewing the grinding shaft (adjustable wrench on the handle flats) from the burr (wrap the burr with that leather glove and grip it with vice grips/vice/big pliers) and filing down the bottom of the shaft a couple of millimeters. If you go too far the handle will bottom out on the top cap and you'll be stuck with fine grind instead of the courser grind you've already worked so hard for. If this happens, just unscrew the shaft again and stick a pepper corn, or half a pepper corn, or a tiny rock or something small and hard in the bottom and tighten it back up again.

Voila! The perfect pepper mill! "Too much work," you say? Yeah, probably, but what else are you gonna do at your grandparents' house for a week with all those tools lying around? Either way, how can you go wrong with a pepper grinder that you can modify to your own tolerances. It's that solid.
